There are a number of different types of meditation and it may take a bit of trial and error to find the one that works best for you.

Best types of meditation

There are at least nine popular types of meditation in the Western culture. As you delve into each one, you’re sure to find at least one that works for your life. Below, we cover three favorites.

Mindfulness meditation

This is practiced throughout your lifestyle each and every day. This type of meditation focuses on your thought life. Catch yourself thinking negative things about people and situations. Immediately adjust your thoughts so they are positive and send out love, peace and good fortune to the world around you.

Movement meditation

Yoga is most often associated with movement meditation. Find a good website that shows some simple Yoga positions. As you do each one, breathe deeply, clear your mind, focus on peaceful, happy thoughts.

Progressive relaxation

In this meditation, you tighten a group of muscles as you breathe in and then loosen them as you breathe out. This helps you develop control over your bodily functions. Once you master this, you can better deal with stress, migraines and such.
